Library Materials Selection Policy

The Nottawa Township Library Board and staff support the principles of intellectual freedom as set forth by the Freedom to Read statement of the American Library Association and the Library Bill of Rights.

In accordance with the Mission Statement, the library attempts to acquire and make available to all patrons such print and non-print materials as will satisfy their needs to become fully informed, to cultivate their imagination, and to refine their tastes and leisure by means of reading and other services.

The library strives to collect and preserve materials relating to the history of the local region, and to collect and make readily available materials on the Amish-Mennonite peoples of the area.

The selection of materials is the responsibility of the library director guided by the above criteria.
