Nottawa Township Library Board Minutes

September 26, 2022

Cara Arver called the meeting to order at 4:59 pm.

Kathleen Brandon, Amber Troyer, Bob Klar, Carmita Hunter, Michelle Brokaw, Cara Arver, Mike Friesner, and Carrie Brueck were present.

Bob motioned to approve the agenda, second by Kathleen, approved. Carmita motioned to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, second by Kathleen, approved.

The board discussed the financial reports. Michelle motioned to accept the financial reports as presented, and second by Bob, accepted.

The deposit has been sent to Shetler and the materials have been ordered for the building project.

Kathleen and Bob attended a virtual workshop about board book reconsideration challenges. A link is available if anyone else would like to review the recording. A gavel was recommended for the board president to make public comment concise. A copy of the library’s reconsideration forms and reconsideration policy for materials should be reviewed this fall.

Reviewing more policies with Anne from Foster Swift was discussed. Waiting until the new director comes on was recommended.

The Director’s report was presented. Summer Reading numbers were fantastic! Lego kits were very popular and will continue into fall and winter. Meeting spaces are used most days.

The committee to hire a new director has an interview Thursday, September 29 at 5:30 pm. A special board meeting will be held in early October once the committee has a recommendation. The board discussed the previous decision to start the new hire on 12/1.

There was no public comment.

The next meeting is scheduled for November 28.  A Doodle Poll will be taken to assure a quorum prior to the meeting date.
